A solar system simulator with real Keplerian orbits, adjustable time scale, and clickable planet fly-tos.
Overview
Solar System renders the Sun and the eight planets on Keplerian orbits around it, with sizes and distances scaled for visibility. Time can be accelerated by orders of magnitude so you can watch a year pass in a second.
Drag to rotate the camera, scroll to zoom, click a planet to follow it. Adjust the time scale, planet sizes, and trail length in the sidebar.
Features
The Sun and eight planets on Keplerian orbits.
(real-time to thousands of years per second), planet size, and trail length.
To fly the camera to it; drag to rotate, scroll to zoom.
How to use
Steps take about a minute.
Drag the background to rotate the camera and scroll to zoom. Click a planet to follow it. Use the sidebar to set the time scale, planet sizes, and trail length. Export PNG/JPG from the toolbar.
Use cases
FAQ
Orbital distances and planet sizes are compressed so everything fits on screen at once. Use the time scale slider to see real-time motion or accelerate to thousands of years per second.
Not in the current build. The sidebar exposes the eight planets and lets you tune their trails and sizes, but custom bodies aren't yet supported.
